Thanks for visiting! I have 21 years of experience as a counselor, mental health therapist, and behaviorist. My specialty is working with LGBT+ adults and couples. Issues I have worked with in the past include same-sex couples' dynamics, self-acceptance, the coming-out process, and gender transition. I am also skilled with a variety of presenting problems, ranging from trauma (sexual, physical, and emotional), substance abuse, anxiety, and depression.
Typically, I work with clients to find what type of therapy works best and adapt to their needs. In the past, I have had great success with standard methods such as DBT (dialectical behavior therapy), CBT (cognitive behavior therapy), Behaviorism, and others. Don't know what any of those terms mean? Not a problem! With my guidance, we'll be able to figure out what process works best for you together.
My style is very conversational, sometimes to the point that it feels like we're just hanging out. Trust me, we're doing the work, I'm just making it more relatable. For example, as a geek, I draw on my passions to help patients reframe ideas. This can mean using references from video games, Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, Anime, Harry Potter, and music to help clients better understand and reframe presenting problems. This has been very successful for couples and adults alike, making experiences more positive.
And yes, that is a Reptar shirt I'm wearing.

Sometimes you need a third party perspective. I help couples (of any orientation) with unbiased observations and guidance.

Coming to terms with your identity is a hard experience. I hope to provide some comfort and perspective in your journey.

My tenets are empathy, compassion and humor. Those combined with evidence-based techniques will craft a path forward in your healing process.

Couples therapy and individual therapy (16+).
Nope! My services extend to anyone who needs help.
I start off with a conversation to determine what help I can provide. Typically we won't get into anything too deep, but rather touch on the main motivation for seeking therapy and getting to know each other.
Typically 50 minutes, especially if I have another appointment right after.
I'm trying to, but the approval process can be very slow. What I offer is doing what is known as a superbill, an itemized account of services that you, in turn, give to your insurer to get reimbursed. However, I can work on a sliding scale.
$150 for indvidual, $250 for couples.
If I sound like a good fit for you please get in touch!
